Tejiendo Sombras// Shadow Weavers

Feature Documentary (97 minutes)

Released November 2020

Clothing has forever distinguished and cemented bonds of cultural identity, but along the Andes of Perú a network of encoded messages is woven into every hat. This is a story of how wool and straw become mechanisms of communication- where one’s hat can be read as easily as a book, without uttering a word.

At Her Fingertips

Short Documentary (17 minutes)

Released February 2019

In the Andes, one's hat speaks volumes about the identity of its owner- but what of the silenced voices of its makers? Celendín is a small pueblo known for its elegant straw hats and determined people. Women have been the primary artisan weavers, laboring over each hat while buyers set the market price lower and lower. This story brings awareness to the talented women who seek equity for the future of their craft.
